At the end of 2022 Kristin earned a promotion to Associate Professor. You’re probably familiar with her frequent updates on seminars and other events through the Massey Geoinformatics Collaboratory blog and Geocollab email list. In August 2022 she was Conference Chair for the NZ Geospatial Research Conference in Wellington. Her research focuses on how location is described in natural language (text and spoken) and developing automated methods to understand georeferenced complex location descriptions. She supervises a research group of several PhD students in the same research area and teaches two postgraduate courses in geoinformatics. When you have the chance, thank Kristin for all she does for the Geoinformatics/Geospatial Science community at Massey University and congratulate her on the very well-deserved promotion!
